Nim's homemade sweet n' sour chicken:
8 chicken breasts (yes, 8 )
8-oz bottle of Catalina flavor salad dressing
10-oz jar of apricot jam/jelly
1 envelope of dry onion soup mix
Dump everything in just before bed - or morning classes - and you're set. Get a long spoon to stir and serve it with. 4 hours on medium, 8 on low.
Since I don't really trust my crock to kill everything inside on low, I usually set it to high for 2 hours after a day on low. It's a crock pot - over-cooking is pretty well guaranteed anyway.
I prefer to get a piece of chicken and some sauce in a bowl, shred the chicken with 2 forks (any meat that's been in a crock for that long is ready to fall apart) and heap it onto my favorite crispbread. I think crispbread is a bit of an ethnic specialty item, so may not be available. It's basically a cracker the size of half a slice of bread, and a little thinner. Sourdough's my favorite.
