The case needs a handle!

I blew up my work PC, and my new one has Vista on it, and I tell ya, for the redheaded step child of operating systems it's not that big a pile o' crap. I have beaten my copy into submission and disabled some of it's security to be less annoying, and now it's just about as good as XP Pro. Perhaps equal, but different.

Yea i did more research Dis and and if you switch it to Vista you can crank up the RAM in the machine

Quote:
Home Basic is limited to 8GB, Home Premium is limited to 16GB and the other editions (Business, Enterprise and Ultimate) let you get all the way up to 128GB

So up to you, I figure with this beast... if you want more power this is the way to get it, although it's still Vista.

If so

I would suggest you upgrade the PSU...I would go for either a 1000W or a 1200W...all that stuff you're putting in might be too much for an 860W to handle...especially if it's going to be on for long periods of time...also...what about the monitor...you gotta get a kick ass monitor to display the high end graphics correctly...i'd go with a 22 - 24" 1080p HD monitor...also consider going for Seagate HDD's as opposed to WD...Seagate drives run cooler and aren't as noisy...my 1TB Seagate runs cooler and quieter than my 300Gb WD...

that's an easy change out on the HD, i use either or, i've never noticed any problems with either. I thought I might need more power but wasn't sure. And he wants a 30" monitor, which i have to look more into.

So far it's just http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=014062&cid=MT.863

Samsung are good monitors...do a little more research on the monitors though cause I know that a lot of their big monitors have gotten bad reviews due to color bleedings after extensive use...I also read a review that in order for that specific monitor to reach it's ideal graphic output, it requires that you use the dual DVI connection...otherwise the graphics are equivalent to that of a 19" monitor...

Another thing you might want to consider is that the Radeon cards you have listed have been reported to run extremely hot when running High End graphic games. Most gamers report having to turn up the fans to 50% and higher, causing the fans to get really loud. These cards are also really big, so you need to take that into consideration before choosing which Case you get. My suggestion is to get a full size tower case that uses 120mm fans as opposed to the 80mm. You will need to replace whatever fans the case comes with for either the Antec or Thermaltake 120mm Case fans...these are ideal for maximum airflow...As for the PSU...definitely try to go for a 1200W PSU. It's always better to have too much power as oppsed to not enough...lol

i'll keep looking into reviews for the monitor...

thx for the help LD, but if you look at the case', the $800 has liquid cooling in it already, and has pretty good reviews in the ways of cooling, the other 2 are air cooling one with a massive fan on the side of it.

I would definitely go for the water cooling case...and if Dis is really hell bent on the handle...you can easily add a handle to it...all you need is a handle and a drill...lol Very Happy

The handle is a must. I am death incarnate to PC's and am constantly bringing it to Aysa's place for repair.... And since my last case has had one, I know the joys of easy transport...

Isnt there a some kind of heavy duty rubber strap you can use on your tower to make it portable?
